"When I was little my parents sent me to work instead of school," says Amayda de Leon, a nurse with the Project since April 1996. "Then, when I was an adult I was able to study and graduated from sixth grade and after my first child I continued to study." She has stayed with the project "because I believe God has wanted me here, and there are so many needs in the communities that I can help meet through my work while I also help to support my family. I am a person who gives thanks to God for the good things and the bad things. What I have here is something really good."
